The Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) program of 60 classroom hours and 40 clinical instruction hours has been designed to prepare the student for the CT Nurses Aide State Exam. Classroom hours will include basic Terminology, Long Term Care, Safety & Emergency Procedures, Infection Control, Taking and Recording Vital Signs, Proper Transfer techniques. Clinical hours will be completed at 120 bed long-term health care facility.

Students with no more than 8 absent hours will be allowed to make-up hours at the convenience of the instructor and the schools scheduling availability. If a student has more than 8 absent hours the student will be required to pay $15.00 for each additional hour of make-up time before returning to class. A doctor’s note will waive the fee.
A DTC “Certificate of Completion” will be issued to the student upon fulfilled financial obligations and successful completion of the programs 100 hours components.
Successful completion of our CNA program prepares student’s to take the CT Nurse Aide State Exam. Testing is available at our facility for a fee of $108.00 and is a privilege for students who attend all classes, obtain at least a 75% grade point average on all tests and make timely payments. At the discretion of the Director, students who achieve below 75% on a section will have the opportunity to retest no more than 3 times for each test section. In the event that a test date is cancelled, DTC will give the student as much notice as possible and will assist with rescheduling as dates become available. If arrangements are made for testing at our facility, and the student fails to attend the test date without proper notification or a Doctor’s note, DTC will not refund the $108.00 test fee. After passing the test, you will be required to submit an application to the CT Nurses Aide Registry which will allow you to work as a CNA.
